Head of Airfreight

About the role

The Head of Airfreight will lead DHL Global Forwarding’s airfreight operations in Cameroon, aligning the sub‑function with the country’s business strategy and global guidelines. You will ensure smooth flow of goods and information across customers’ global supply chains while proactively engaging with customers to meet their shipment expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement the airfreight operations strategy in line with country and global policies.
• Plan and execute operational measures, budgets, and initiatives to drive profitability, volume growth, and service expansion.
• Lead large‑scale country projects to deliver fast, reliable, and cost‑effective airfreight solutions.
• Manage end‑to‑end capacity, network procurement, and consolidation opportunities.
• Oversee site decisions, capacity procurement, technical support, and local purchasing according to global policy.
• Monitor carrier usage, negotiate incentive deals, and steer market profiling and competitor analysis.
• Define pricing strategies, support new product identification, and provide pricing and margin guidance to sales teams.
• Ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and specifications at the country level.
• Benchmark and embed best‑in‑class infrastructure and practices for airfreight operations.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in airfreight operations at a country or regional level.
• Ability to develop and execute functional strategies aligned with corporate guidelines.
• Strong customer orientation with experience managing shipments to meet expectations.
• Experience in budgeting, project management, and driving operational profitability.
• Knowledge of capacity management, network procurement, and pricing strategy formulation.
• Analytical skills for market profiling, competitor research, and compliance monitoring.
