Child Protection Officer (Technical Assistance, 6 months)

About the role

The Child Protection Officer (NO-1) will provide technical and programmatic support for UNICEF’s child protection interventions in Cameroon. Working under the Chief Child Protection, the officer will help strengthen national child protection systems, ensure quality service delivery and promote evidence‑based programming in both development and emergency contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of child protection programmes aligned with national priorities and UNICEF’s Strategic Plan.
• Assist government and partner counterparts in strengthening child protection systems and service delivery.
• Contribute to coordination mechanisms in the North‑West, South‑West, Far North and national levels.
• Provide technical guidance on protection risk assessments, case management and response services.
• Prepare reports, data analyses and evidence‑based recommendations for improving protection outcomes.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in social sciences, child protection, humanitarian affairs or a related field.
• Experience working on child protection programmes in humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong understanding of child protection standards, policies and best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government, NGOs and UN partners.
