Communication Associate – Public Relations & Media

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Communication Associate to support public‑relations, media engagement and visibility activities in Cameroon. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and the National Project Officer (Outreach and Visibility), the incumbent will work closely with programme managers, technical units, government counterparts and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing public‑relations and media outreach strategies to raise IOM’s profile.
• Coordinate stakeholder outreach, institutional visibility and communication campaigns.
• Collaborate with programme managers, regional offices, headquarters and external partners to ensure consistent messaging.
• Prepare and disseminate press releases, briefing notes and communication materials.
• Monitor media coverage and produce analysis reports.

Required profile

• High school diploma with six years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Affairs or related field with four years of experience.
• Experience in social‑welfare, NGOs, local government or legal communication is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and take initiative.
• Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required.
