Customs Clearance Officer

About the role

The Customs Clearance Officer will manage the end‑to‑end import process for health commodities procured by the U.S. Government, primarily HIV and malaria supplies. Working closely with clearing agents, government authorities, and internal logistics teams, the officer ensures that shipments move smoothly from the port of entry to storage and ultimately to service delivery points.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement inbound logistics strategies, focusing on shipment tracking and customs clearance.
• Obtain pre‑import permits, import releases, and all required documentation such as delegation letters and duty‑free exemptions.
• Maintain accurate shipment trackers and provide real‑time status updates to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Cameroonian Department of Pharmacy, Medicines, and Laboratories (DPML), U.S. Department of State, freight forwarders, and warehouse teams to reconcile quantities with purchase orders and invoices.
• Contribute to SOP development, KPI implementation, and performance monitoring of customs clearance activities.
• Represent MSH in policy discussions, technical working groups, and international forums related to customs and supply chain management.

Required profile

• Experience in customs clearance, import regulations, or international logistics, preferably in the health sector.
• Strong knowledge of donor‑funded procurement processes and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple government agencies and private partners.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
