Head – Exploration, Geology & Mine Planning

About the role

The Head of Exploration leads the identification, evaluation, and modelling of geological resources and oversees mine planning to maximise resource utilisation, profitability and sustainability of mining operations in Cameroon.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and supervise geological exploration campaigns, including prospecting, drilling and mapping.
• Conduct geological and geotechnical studies, identify exploitable zones and evaluate mineral reserves.
• Interpret geological and geophysical data, develop models and reserve estimates, and prepare technical reports.
• Design quarry or mine operation plans, define extraction methods, optimise mining sequences and support production planning.
• Manage geological databases, use mining modelling software and ensure data traceability.
• Lead geologists, technicians and field teams, plan activities and ensure knowledge transfer.
• Ensure compliance with Cameroonian mining and environmental regulations and participate in impact studies.
• Prepare strategic reports for management and contribute to investment decisions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Geology, Mining Engineering, Geosciences or Applied Geology.
• 7‑10 years of experience in mining exploration, deposit evaluation and mine planning.
• Certifications in geological modelling, mine planning, geostatistics and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
• Proven leadership and team‑management experience.

Required skills

• Geological analysis and interpretation of geoscientific data.
• Resource modelling, reserve estimation and mine‑planning optimisation.
• Proficiency with mining software: Surpac, Datamine, MineSight, Vulcan, AutoCAD/GIS.
• Strong knowledge of mining regulations and environmental standards.
