National Consultant – Menstrual Hygiene Market Study (Cameroon)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior national consultant to lead a comprehensive market study on menstrual hygiene products in Cameroon. The consultant will work primarily from home with periodic travel to field sites, delivering actionable insights to inform policy, private‑sector engagement and program design.

Key responsibilities

• Map key market players including producers, importers, distributors and NGOs.
• Analyse supply chains, distribution channels and cost structures.
• Gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data on user practices, preferences and affordability.
• Identify barriers to access (economic, social, geographical, cultural) and regulatory constraints.
• Produce a reliable database from field surveys and provide actionable recommendations for market development and policy advocacy.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, WASH, Public Health, Development Economics, Business, Marketing or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years conducting market research or value‑chain analyses in developing countries, preferably in sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing field studies with both quantitative and qualitative methods.
