National Security Officer – Yaoundé

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Security Officer to join its Office of Staff Security in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and working closely with the Field Security Support Officer, the incumbent will provide technical and operational support to ensure the safety of IOM personnel, assets and programmes across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor security risk management measures for staff, premises, movements and programme activities.
• Conduct security risk assessments, incident reporting and analysis.
• Coordinate access control, movement security and emergency preparedness with UNDSS, national authorities and partners.
• Maintain security awareness, preparedness and response capacity within the country office and field locations.
• Provide technical guidance to field staff and liaise with regional security support structures.

Required profile

• University degree in Security Management, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Criminal Justice, Risk Management or related field with at least two years relevant experience; a Master’s degree is desirable.
• Professional experience in security, safety, risk management, humanitarian operations or related fields.
• Experience with security risk assessments, incident reporting, access control, movement security and emergency preparedness.
• Familiarity with UNDSS, UNSMS or national security structures in Cameroon or Central Africa is an advantage.
