Assistant Professor in Machine Learning (Computer Science)

About the role

The University Sorbonne Paris Nord seeks a Maître·sse de Conférence to teach and conduct research in Machine Learning within its Computer Science department at the IUT de Villetaneuse. The position combines undergraduate teaching for the BUT Informatique programme with active participation in the LIPN research laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and practical sessions on data processing, database design, and artificial intelligence.
• Supervise student internships and apprenticeships, and contribute to curriculum development (SAE organization).
• Lead or co‑lead courses and take on broader pedagogical responsibilities.
• Conduct independent research in machine learning, contributing to the A3 team’s projects on data‑driven learning, relational learning, and meta‑learning.
• Collaborate with the RCLN team on natural language processing and knowledge‑graph research when relevant.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated research contributions in machine learning (theoretical or applied).
• Experience teaching at the higher‑education level and willingness to engage in departmental life.
• Ability to supervise student projects and participate in academic service.
