Assistant Professor – Machine Learning

About the role

The University Institute of Technology (IUT) of Université Sorbonne Paris Nord seeks an Assistant Professor to teach computer science within the Bachelor of Technology (BUT) program and to strengthen research in machine learning at the Paris Nord Computer Science Laboratory (LIPN). The position combines classroom instruction, supervision of internships and work‑study students, and active participation in departmental life.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and practical sessions on data processing, database design, software development, and artificial intelligence.
• Prepare teaching materials, design assessments, and organize Learning and Assessment Situations (SAé).
• Supervise internships, work‑study projects, and guide student research.
• Coordinate courses and contribute to curriculum development.
• Conduct independent research in machine learning, collaborating with the A3 and RCLN teams at LIPN.
• Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and outreach activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in machine learning theory or applications.
• Experience teaching at the undergraduate level and supervising student projects.
• Strong collaborative mindset and ability to engage with interdisciplinary research teams.
