Collections Clerk – Medical Billing & Collections

About the role

The Collections Clerk supports Surgery Partners by managing outstanding account balances from third‑party payers. You will work closely with patients and payors to ensure timely reimbursement and maintain accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Identify delinquent accounts, aging periods, and payment sources.
• Contact patients by telephone to arrange payments and resolve billing issues.
• Resubmit claims to the appropriate payor and track claim status.
• Evaluate patient financial status and establish payment plans as needed.
• Stay current on third‑party payer regulations and update documentation accordingly.
• Reduce days in accounts receivable and meet assigned cash and productivity goals.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections or comparable education.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to identify and resolve collection trends.
• Detail‑oriented and able to keep documentation current and accessible.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.
