Construction Officer (Temporary Appointment)

About the role

The Construction Officer provides technical support for UNICEF Cameroon’s construction programme, ensuring that building projects are planned, procured, and executed efficiently and sustainably. This temporary appointment focuses on designing resilient classrooms, greening construction practices, and monitoring project impact.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual construction workplan and align it with programme priorities.
• Collaborate with UNICEF programme teams and government counterparts to define construction interventions.
• Develop design and technical documentation for construction projects.
• Support the procurement process for construction goods and services.
• Monitor construction works on site, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Track environmental and social impact indicators throughout project implementation.

Required profile

• University degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience at national or international level in project monitoring, site supervision, or quality assurance.
• Experience with public building construction processes, including supervision, management, programming, and planning.
• Background in disaster risk reduction or resilient construction is an advantage.
