Health Informatics Assistant

About the role

Join the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) in Cameroon as a Health Informatics Assistant. You will support the Data Management and Data Analysis Unit, working closely with the health informatics team to enhance electronic tools that enable accurate, timely patient data for the Atteindre95 project.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze program requirements and improve existing electronic data capture tools.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain data entry applications using established guidelines.
• Support DHIS2, DAMA, PLDC, and related digital suites.
• Identify and fix software defects in digital tools.
• Engage users and technical staff to prioritize feature requests and improve usability.
• Stay updated on new technologies and contribute to knowledge management.
• Assist in developing additional software applications as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on software development experience.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and eHealth environments.
• Experience with open‑source technology stacks.

Required skills

• Programming languages and frameworks: PHP, Laravel, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap.
• Database expertise: SQL (MS SQL, PostgreSQL), NoSQL.
• Health‑IT platforms: DHIS2, ODK, Kobo.
• Web server management and optimization.
• Understanding of health information exchange standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
