National ICT Internship – Information and Communication Technology

About the role
The UNFPA Internship Programme offers a dynamic IT/Computer Science student or recent graduate the chance to gain practical experience in enterprise IT operations, network administration, cybersecurity compliance, user support and digital solutions within an international organization.
Key responsibilities
- Provide first‑line desktop support (Helpdesk) to UNFPA staff and remote sub‑offices.
- Troubleshoot hardware (laptops, printers, scanners, projectors) and software (Windows OS, Microsoft 365, video‑conferencing tools).
- Set up, configure and maintain workstations, peripheral devices and user accounts according to UNFPA standards.
- Support multimedia and technical setup for hybrid meetings, workshops, webinars and virtual events.
- Assist in monitoring LAN, Wi‑Fi and internet connectivity across the office premises.
- Support routine maintenance of server rooms, network switches, routers, IP telephony and backup power systems (UPS, generators, solar inverters).
- Verify software updates, antivirus definitions and security patches on user machines.
- Create and update digital media, SharePoint pages and data visualisation tools as required.
- Maintain simple databases, automated forms or digital workflows using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Forms).
- Promote ICT security awareness and standard operating procedures among staff.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a postgraduate programme in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English or French.
- Demonstrated interest in UNFPA’s mandate and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, initiative and sound judgment.
- Experience working with development agencies or in a volunteer capacity is an asset.
