PhD position in NIR-II Quantum Dots for Bioimaging

About the role

The project focuses on developing bright, stable, and biocompatible NIR‑II quantum dots for deep‑tissue biomedical imaging and theranostics. The PhD candidate will work on synthesis, surface engineering, and pre‑clinical validation within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize microwave‑assisted synthesis protocols for silver chalcogenide quantum dots.
• Implement metal doping and shell structures to enhance quantum efficiency.
• Perform comprehensive physico‑chemical characterization (XRD, TEM, DLS, photoluminescence, capillary electrophoresis).
• Develop surface functionalization strategies (ligand exchange, polymer encapsulation) to achieve water solubility, stability, and targeting capability.
• Evaluate in vitro and in vivo toxicity, biodistribution, and therapeutic performance using NIR‑II imaging and MRI.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
• Strong interest in optical imaging, nanomaterials, and biomedical applications.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
