Binational Complex Landscape Director – North Cameroon/Chad

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks a Landscape Director to lead the North Cameroon/Chad Binational Complex. Based in Garoua, Cameroon, the role coordinates conservation activities across Bouba‑Ndjidda, Bénoué, and Sena‑Oura National Parks, working closely with government agencies, WCS offices, and regional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and strategic leadership for the transboundary protected‑area complex.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) and Chad authorities on wildlife, forest, and fisheries conservation.
• Oversee field teams, ensuring effective monitoring, research, and anti‑poaching operations.
• Facilitate frequent travel to national parks and regional sites to support management units.
• Collaborate with WCS North Cameroon, Chad, and Sudano‑Sahel regional teams to align program objectives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in protected‑area management, preferably in transboundary landscapes.
• Proven ability to work with government partners and international NGOs.
• Strong field leadership and coordination skills across multiple sites.
• Willingness to travel frequently throughout the complex.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in wildlife and habitat conservation.
• Knowledge of protected‑area governance and community‑based conservation.
• Ability to develop and implement conservation strategies at landscape scale.
