Construction Officer – Technical Assistance

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Construction Officer to provide technical support for its construction programme in Cameroon. The role involves planning, procurement support, and on‑site monitoring to ensure resilient, child‑friendly learning environments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual construction workplan.
• Collaborate with UNICEF Programme teams and government counterparts to define construction interventions.
• Develop design and technical documents for construction projects.
• Support the procurement process for construction goods and services.
• Monitor construction works on site, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Track environmental and social impact indicators for each project.

Required profile

• University degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience at national or international level in project monitoring, site supervision, quality assurance or related technical fields.
• Experience with public building construction, supervision, management, programming and planning.
• Background in disaster risk reduction, resilient infrastructure, and preferably school reconstruction or education in emergencies.
