Core Network Expert – Core Modernization & New Services

About the role

The Core Network Expert will provide senior technical leadership and hands‑on expertise in mobile core network technologies, driving modernization, transformation, optimization and the introduction of new services such as IMS, VoLTE/VoNR and 5G Core.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute migration strategies from legacy platforms to virtualized, cloud‑native and 5G‑ready core networks.
• Lead deployment, integration and validation of IMS, VoLTE/VoNR and 5G SA/NSA architectures, including network slicing and policy control.
• Act as technical lead for large‑scale core modernization projects, reviewing designs, coordinating vendors and overseeing cut‑over activities.
• Transfer knowledge and build the technical capabilities of the local core team through training, workshops and documentation.
• Investigate and resolve complex core signaling, session, mobility and charging issues across SS7, Diameter, GTP, SIP and HTTP/2.

Required profile

• 10+ years of telecommunications core network experience, preferably in a Tier‑1 mobile operator.
• Proven hands‑on experience with major vendor core platforms and large‑scale migration or transformation projects.
• Experience managing multi‑vendor implementations, production migrations and high‑risk cut‑over activities.

Required skills

• 2G/3G/4G/5G core architecture, EPC and 5G Core (AMF, SMF, UPF, etc.).
• IMS, VoLTE/VoNR, SIP, SS7, Diameter, GTP, HTTP/2 signaling.
• Network slicing, QoS, policy control, subscriber management.
• Virtualization, NFV/SDN, cloud‑native telco, Kubernetes, OpenStack.
• Automation using Python or API‑based tools.
