Data Collector and Education Worker

About the role

EKCÖLAB, an environmental organization focused on water security, climate resilience and environmental sustainability, is hiring a full-time, on-site Data Collector and Education Worker in Mile 16 Bolifamba, Buea, Cameroon. The role combines gathering field data on water, sanitation, hygiene, climate impacts and community health with supporting environmental education activities.

Key responsibilities

• Gather field data on water, sanitation, hygiene, climate impacts and community health, following established protocols and using digital tools for accurate recording.
• Support environmental education by assisting with trainings, workshops and community outreach on water security, climate resilience and sustainable practices.
• Coordinate with local stakeholders and conduct surveys and interviews.
• Document observations and prepare basic reports or summaries for project leads.
• Help develop educational materials and support youth engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams so that data informs community solutions.

Required profile

• Ability to work on-site in diverse community settings in Mile 16 Bolifamba.
• Strong teamwork, cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
• Beneficial: interest or experience in environmental science, public health, WASH or climate-related work.

Required skills

• Data collection: surveys, field observations and accurate data entry with digital tools.
• Analytical skills: interpreting basic trends, checking data quality and supporting evidence-based decisions.
• Communication skills for engaging with community members, youth and stakeholders.
