Field Security Associate

About the role

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security is seeking a Field Security Associate to support security operations in Maroua, Cameroon. Reporting to the Field Security Coordination Officer and under the guidance of the UN Security Adviser, the associate will help ensure the safety of UN personnel and assets in the area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing security plans and procedures for UN missions in the Maroua region.
• Monitor and report security incidents, threats, and risks to the Area Security Coordinator.
• Support the preparation of security briefings, travel advice, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with local authorities, UN partners, and other stakeholders on security matters.
• Maintain security records, databases, and documentation in accordance with UNDSS standards.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in security, risk management, or related fields, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Understanding of UN security management principles and protocols.
• Ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to evolving security situations.
• Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
