Finance Assistant

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Finance Assistant to support its emergency programmes in Cameroon. Based in Bamenda, you will act as the first point of contact between the finance department and external partners for daily billing, payment processing, and cash management.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and validate payment requests against purchase orders, contracts and IRC procedures.
• Prepare disbursements using the appropriate payment method (cash, check, bank transfer, etc.).
• Process advance requests and ensure proper documentation is attached to accounting files.
• Make weekly reconciliations of outstanding advances and payments, and produce summary statements.
• Enter cash register transactions and maintain accurate cash ledger records.
• Support the Finance Officer, Deputy Director of Finance and Finance Manager in routine financial operations.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to verify financial documents for accuracy.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple payment requests.
• Comfortable working in a humanitarian environment with frequent travel within the project area.
