Protection Officer (Maternity cover)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Protection Officer on a maternity‑cover basis to lead the delivery of protection programmes in Cameroon. Reporting to the Protection Project Manager, the officer will ensure high‑quality implementation of gender‑based violence (GBV), protection‑related legal (PRoL) and child‑protection interventions across the organisation’s field sites.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise the implementation of GBV, PRoL and child‑protection activities in targeted locations.
• Coordinate with field teams in Maroua, Buea, Mamfe and Bamenda to monitor programme performance.
• Support the delivery of education and child‑protection services that address learning and safety needs.
• Contribute to protection programmes aimed at preventing gender‑based violence and assisting victims of human‑rights violations.

Required profile

• Experience working on protection interventions in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Protection Project Manager.
• Commitment to the IRC’s values of freedom, human dignity and self‑reliance.
