About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Protection Officer (P3) to support its Global Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) programme. Based in Cameroon with responsibilities extending to Equatorial Guinea, the role contributes to safe, dignified, and voluntary return processes for migrants across the Western Hemisphere.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct protection assessments in coordination with the Chief of Mission, regional offices, and headquarters units.
- Identify and propose risk‑mitigation strategies related to operational settings, service accessibility, shelter conditions, and legal issues.
- Collaborate with government counterparts, public and private partners, and the Global AVR Program Team to ensure compliance with free, prior and informed consent principles.
- Provide technical guidance to field teams on protection standards and monitor implementation.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.
Required profile
- Relevant higher‑education degree in migration, humanitarian affairs, law, or a related field.
- Experience working in protection, migration, or humanitarian contexts, preferably in West‑Central Africa.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi‑stakeholder environments and to produce analytical assessments.
