Vice President - Cameroon Young Physicians Network

About the role

The Cameroon Young Physicians Network is a physician-led organization that empowers young doctors to contribute beyond traditional hospital settings, through collaboration, community health projects and public health training. The Vice President is a volunteer, on-site leadership position based in Cameroon, working closely with the President and the executive team to support the network's strategic direction and operational coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and oversee programs, initiatives and partnerships that advance the network's mission and impact.
• Coordinate committees and facilitate meetings.
• Guide community and public health projects and ensure effective communication among members and stakeholders.
• Help develop and monitor organizational goals, and support fundraising and advocacy efforts.
• Represent the network at events, conferences and external engagements.
• Mentor young physicians, promote collaboration across regions and specialties, and safeguard inclusive, ethical and transparent governance.

Required profile

• Leadership and governance experience, including team coordination, strategic planning and decision-making in healthcare or community organizations.
• Demonstrated commitment to community engagement and public health, with experience in health projects, advocacy or outreach in Cameroon or similar contexts.
• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) and registration as a physician; prior involvement in professional networks or leadership roles is highly beneficial.
• Fluency in English and/or French; proficiency in both and familiarity with Cameroon's health system are strong advantages.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage diverse stakeholders and present ideas clearly in writing and speech.
• Project management: planning, prioritizing, monitoring progress and managing resources.
• Ability to mentor and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment.
