Women and Gender Officer (Part‑time) – Dschang, Cameroon

About the role

The Women and Gender Officer will support gender mainstreaming across the Environment and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF) and its Mount Bamboutos Initiative (MBI). Reporting to the MBI Manager, the role focuses on integrating gender perspectives into programmes, developing strategies, and fostering a gender‑sensitive work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and identify gender needs within the MBI framework.
• Develop and implement a strategic action plan for gender integration.
• Establish and coordinate a gender task force for the programme.
• Prepare gender strategies, proposals and grant applications.
• Design and deliver training tools on gender mainstreaming.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on gender activities.
• Support data collection, indicator development and knowledge sharing.
• Assist in the design of new projects and programmes with a gender focus.
• Serve as Project Officer for the Centre for the Advancement of Women’s Initiatives (CAWI), planning and executing its projects.
• Develop and maintain a gender‑programme database.
• Collaborate with departmental directors to embed gender considerations in forestry, conservation, livelihood, and agro‑forestry programmes.

Required profile

• Female candidate.
• Experience in gender mainstreaming, gender‑focused project management or related fields.
• Strong understanding of environmental and rural development contexts.
• Ability to develop proposals, grants and training materials.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
