Yard Manager – Civil Engineering (Port Yard)

About the role

The Yard Manager will lead the civil engineering execution of a container and wood yard, ensuring that pavements, roads, culverts, minor bridges, buildings, utilities and compound walls are built to specification and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed execution plans for yard structures and coordinate with users, consultants, contractors and authorities.
• Oversee on‑site civil works, including foundations, piling, concrete, precast installations and backup area development.
• Manage contractors and subcontractors, schedule resources, and resolve on‑site construction and interface issues.
• Implement QA/QC plans, conduct inspections and tests (CBR, pile integrity, concrete), and enforce HSE protocols.
• Assist the Project Director with bill certification, ensuring completeness of quantities and contractual compliance.
• Track daily, weekly and monthly progress, prepare management reports and handle permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate yard‑jetty interfaces, support commissioning, and manage handover documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civil construction of yard or port facilities, including pavements, roads, culverts and minor bridges.
• Strong ability to plan, coordinate and monitor large‑scale projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of local environmental and regulatory requirements for civil works.
• Experience in managing contractors, resources and billing processes.
