Area Operations Manager – Kousseri, Cameroon

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking an experienced Area Operations Manager to lead the Kousseri Area Office in Cameroon’s Far North region. You will oversee programme implementation, coordinate with local partners, and ensure high‑quality, compliant support services for a team of around 25 staff.

Key responsibilities

• Organise grant opening and closure meetings in coordination with the country office.
• Represent NRC externally, building professional networks with authorities, councils and humanitarian actors.
• Contribute to assessments for new operational areas and develop programme strategies.
• Adapt and implement SOPs and procedures to ensure effective assistance delivery.
• Oversee staff work and development plans, conduct performance feedback sessions, and ensure compliance with NRC global standards.
• Maintain and improve NRC data collection systems for the area.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operational oversight within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong ability to manage logistical constraints and navigate security‑volatile environments.
• Excellent coordination skills with regional, divisional and sub‑divisional authorities and partners.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams of similar size.

Required skills

• Knowledge of humanitarian programme management and coordination mechanisms.
• Familiarity with grant management processes.
• Ability to adapt SOPs and ensure compliance with organisational standards.
