About the role
The Child Protection Officer (NO-1) will support UNICEF and government partners in strengthening child protection systems across Cameroon. Working under the Chief Child Protection, the officer will contribute to planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating interventions that address violence, exploitation and other risks faced by children in both development and emergency contexts.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical and programmatic support for child protection programmes aligned with national priorities and UNICEF’s Strategic Plan.
- Assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of protection interventions, including monitoring and reporting.
- Support coordination mechanisms at national and regional levels, working with government clusters and humanitarian partners.
- Contribute to capacity‑building activities for UNICEF staff and government counterparts.
- Collect and analyse data to inform evidence‑based decision‑making.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree in social sciences, child protection, humanitarian affairs or a related field.
- Experience working in child protection, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
- Familiarity with UNICEF’s child protection frameworks and national policies.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
