Deputy Plant Manager

About the role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Deputy Plant Manager to lead the overall operations of our EV 2‑Wheeler Assembly Plant. The role oversees Production, Maintenance, Finance, Stores, PPC & Dispatch, HR & Admin, Supply Chain Management, Budgeting and Monthly Review Meetings with top management.
Key responsibilities
- Lead daily assembly plant operations to achieve production targets, quality standards and cost efficiency while implementing Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 practices.
- Ensure preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance, optimise MTBF and MTTR and drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to minimise downtime.
- Prepare and manage plant CAPEX and OPEX budgets, analyse cost per unit, material inventory cost and overheads to improve profitability.
- Oversee procurement, JIT, Kanban and Vendor‑Managed Inventory, maintain accurate stock levels in ERP/SAP and strengthen supplier relationships.
- Develop and monitor master production schedules, manage WIP inventory and streamline logistics and dispatch for on‑time delivery.
- Lead workforce planning, training, performance management and ensure compliance with labour, EHS and industrial regulations.
- Implement EV industry quality standards, conduct audits, defect analysis and drive a zero‑defect quality culture.
- Promote safety‑first culture through 5S, OSHA and EHS protocols, reduce carbon footprint and support sustainability goals.
- Conduct Monthly Review Meetings, present KPIs, improvement plans and align plant goals with corporate strategy.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile or Industrial Engineering (MBA a plus).
- 10+ years of experience in plant management, preferably in EV, 2‑Wheeler or automotive manufacturing, with responsibility for 300+ employees across multiple functions.
