Division Manager - Airport Operations and Facilities

About the role

The Division Manager leads Airport Operations and Facilities for the City of Dayton’s aviation assets, including Dayton International Airport, Dayton Wright Brothers Airport, and the downtown heliport. This senior position oversees 24/7 operations, maintenance, and compliance to ensure safe and efficient airport services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage HVAC systems, structural maintenance, and housekeeping across all aviation facilities.
• Plan and supervise airport expansion projects and inspect new construction for compliance.
• Ensure adherence to FAA certification rules, including preparation of compliance manuals.
• Direct snow and ice removal, runway closures, and overall safety during inclement weather.
• Coordinate emergency response for fires, power outages, bomb threats, and other incidents.
• Maintain relationships with FAA, TSA, airlines, tenants, FBI, contractors, and city departments.
• Oversee maintenance and new‑construction functions to meet regulatory and operational standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising operations and maintenance teams in an aviation or transportation environment.
• Ability to make critical safety decisions, including runway closures.
• Strong knowledge of federal aviation regulations and emergency management protocols.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with federal agencies, airlines, and community partners.
