Driver for Humanitarian Operations in Bamenda

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council seeks a reliable driver to support staff, partners and project logistics in Bamenda, Cameroon. Reporting to the Access, Security and Base Manager, the driver will transport personnel, equipment and supplies across the Adamawa, East and South‑West regions.

Key responsibilities

• Drive DRC vehicles safely, adjust speed to road conditions, maintain documentation and complete logbooks with passenger signatures.
• Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, brakes, tires, fluids), record findings, carry out minor repairs and keep the vehicle clean and equipped with first‑aid kits and safety tools.
• Load and unload cargo, ensure proper securing of loads, respect weight limits and passenger capacity.
• Ensure safety of passengers and goods, enforce seat‑belt use, keep fuel levels adequate, display required DRC stickers and follow security protocols during road checks or checkpoints.

Required profile

• Valid Category B driver’s licence.
• At least 8 years of professional driving experience, including 2 years with an INGO.
• Experience operating left‑hand‑drive 4×4 vehicles such as a Toyota Hardtop.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Willingness to travel to remote field sites for consecutive days and work in a challenging security environment.
• High punctuality, respect for rules and ability to keep confidential information.
