Electrical Services Surveyor (Contract)

About the role

A Local Authority in Hertfordshire is looking for an experienced Electrical Services Surveyor to join its Property Services team on an interim basis. You will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering electrical and building services across a wide council property portfolio, ensuring compliance, safety and value for money.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake electrical surveys, inspections and risk assessments across council properties.
• Manage cyclical electrical testing programmes and coordinate any remedial works.
• Oversee day‑to‑day repairs and maintenance of electrical and building services installations.
• Administer contracts for fire detection, door entry, lifts, CCTV and digital TV systems.
• Plan, manage and maintain mechanical and electrical services throughout the estate.
• Supervise building services contractors and monitor their performance.
• Control project costs and budgets, ensuring value for money and adherence to council procedures.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant regulations, standards and health‑and‑safety requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting electrical surveys and risk assessments.
• Familiarity with JCT standard forms of contract.
• Experience managing electrical maintenance and compliance programmes.
• Strong contract management and budget control abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and access to business insurance.
