Finance Assistant (G4) – Douala

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Finance Assistant (G4) to support financial management and accounting functions for its Cameroon Country Office and sub‑offices, based in Douala.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day finance activities, including treasury monitoring and cash position reviews.
• Enter payments, receipts and non‑cash vouchers in the Wave accounting system, ensuring all supporting documentation and signatures are obtained.
• Maintain the mission’s petty cash account and support internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
• Act as primary contact with local banks in Yaoundé and sub‑offices on operational matters, including exchange‑rate negotiations.
• Prepare monthly accounting returns for headquarters and regional offices.
• Collate Request for Payment (RFP) documents from sub‑offices, verify invoices and expense claims, and ensure proper filing of approved vouchers.
• Participate in funding request preparation and ensure sufficient local funds are available.
• Recommend improvements to internal controls and contribute to operational efficiencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Officer.

Required profile

• Degree or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Wave accounting system.
