About the role
The Forests & Biodiversity Campaigner will contribute to the strategic planning and execution of Greenpeace Africa’s Forest & Biodiversity campaign, using an integrated approach that supports fundraising and audience engagement. Working closely with the Campaign Lead, the role designs evidence‑based, data‑driven campaigns and monitors emerging biodiversity and climate‑action opportunities across the African landscape.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and implement project work in line with the Forests & Biodiversity strategy.
- Design and execute campaign activities, media work, research, political and corporate engagement, and legal/scientific approaches.
- Ensure high‑quality reports, scientific outputs and submissions are produced as campaign tools.
- Contribute to all phases of the project cycle – planning, monitoring, reporting – to guarantee timely and effective delivery.
- Develop and implement an individual workplan with measurable performance objectives.
- Identify responsive opportunities and coordinate timely campaign actions to influence legislation and practices.
- Establish communication and collaboration with governments, NGOs, businesses, lawyers, farmers, media and civil society.
- Represent Greenpeace Africa at meetings and build alliances with partner organisations.
Required profile
- University degree in Social Sciences, Policy, Development, Biodiversity or a related field.
- Knowledge of the Congo Basin PESTLE landscape.
- Experience working in an international, multicultural team with a strong Pan‑African mindset.
- Ability to respond quickly to external moments and to negotiate, build consensus and facilitate dialogue among diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the project management cycle.
- Experience in campaigning, creative advocacy, lobbying and canvassing projects.
