Information Technology Specialist

About the role

The Information Technology Specialist will lead the design, implementation and maintenance of all IT services that support CRENC’s research operations. This full‑time position ensures reliable network, server, data collection and collaboration tools across multiple study sites.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and manage LAN/WAN infrastructure, VPNs and firewalls for central and site offices.
• Administer Windows and Linux servers, ensuring uptime, backups and performance for project data and REDCap services.
• Set up, maintain and troubleshoot REDCap platforms and mobile data collection tools such as tablets, ODK and KoboToolbox.
• Manage organisational email systems (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), user accounts, MFA and phishing protection.
• Maintain institutional websites (WordPress), apply security patches, manage plugins and monitor for vulnerabilities.
• Provide first‑line IT help‑desk support, create documentation and enforce security policies.

Required profile

• Proactive, research‑oriented professional with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience supporting IT environments in multi‑site or research settings.
• Excellent communication skills to train staff and coordinate with external providers.
• Commitment to data security and compliance with health‑research standards.
