IT Intern – Desktop & Network Support

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an IT Intern to support its Bamenda office and field sites. Working under the IT Manager, you will gain hands‑on experience with desktop provisioning, network infrastructure, and end‑user support in a humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and configure end‑user computers with the IRC standard operating system image and approved applications.
• Monitor and maintain IT systems across the Bamenda office and associated field locations.
• Configure and troubleshoot peripherals such as scanners, printers, monitors, and mice.
• Assist users with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Support network infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting in line with IRC policies.
• Coordinate with the Country/Regional IT Lead, IRC NOC, and ISP to ensure reliable internet and LAN connectivity.
• Maintain up‑to‑date IT documentation of assets and network configurations.
• Help deliver IT project activities on schedule and resolve issues promptly.
• Perform other duties as directed by the IT Manager.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Baccalaureate + 2 or Bachelor’s program in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in supporting humanitarian operations and willingness to work on‑site in Bamenda.
• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate with a multicultural team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows operating systems and imaging tools.
• Experience using Microsoft Office suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic networking knowledge and ability to configure network printers and other peripherals.
• Familiarity with IT asset documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
