Junior Accountant

About the role

ECOM Cameroon Commodities is seeking a detail‑oriented Junior Accountant to join its Finance team in Douala. The role supports daily accounting operations, transaction processing, reconciliations and financial reporting while ensuring records are accurate, complete and compliant with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Record and process financial transactions accurately and on time.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Prepare bank and other account reconciliations.
• Support invoice processing and verification.
• Maintain organised accounting records and supporting documents.
• Assist with monthly and annual financial closing activities.
• Support the preparation of financial reports and schedules.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up as required.
• Assist with tax and statutory reporting activities.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits.
• Identify discrepancies and escalate issues to the Finance Manager.
• Maintain accurate financial records in accounting systems.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Two years of accounting experience preferred; fresh graduates with relevant internships may be considered.
• Good understanding of accounting principles.
• Knowledge of OHADA accounting standards is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Good organisational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong integrity and confidentiality when handling financial information.
• Bilingual fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
