About the role

The IOM Cameroon Country Office is recruiting a Project Officer (Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion) to support the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion Unit. Reporting to the Head of Programmes and coordinating with government counterparts and partners, the officer provides technical and operational support for donor-funded projects covering labour migration, skills development, diaspora engagement, trade and migrant inclusion.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the full project cycle (planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and closure) and ensure timely delivery of outputs and indicators.
  • Prepare work plans, implementation schedules, procurement plans, risk matrices and monitoring tools.
  • Provide technical support for labour mobility, skills partnerships, ethical recruitment, diaspora engagement and socio-economic inclusion activities.
  • Work with government counterparts and support coordination with Resource Management, HR, Procurement and M&E units.
  • Prepare donor deliverables such as narrative and financial reports, concept notes and funding proposals.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on results, document lessons learned and share good practices.
  • Supervise project staff, coordinate with consultants and partners, identify operational risks and undertake duty travel as required.

Required profile

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (labour economics, development studies, migration studies, law, international relations, political science, human rights, social sciences) with two years of experience, or a university degree with four years of experience.
  • Progressive experience in labour migration, skills development, employment and social inclusion, preferably in African contexts.
  • Proven project coordination and implementation experience, including donor reporting and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in Central Africa and/or regional initiatives (e.g. CEMAC, ECCAS); exposure to complex operational or border contexts is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and French (oral and written); Portuguese and other UN languages are an advantage.

Required skills

  • Solid technical knowledge of labour mobility, migration governance and skills development.
  • Familiarity with UN system policies and donor-funded programmes.
  • Analytical and drafting skills, and stakeholder engagement across ministries and partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and supervise teams in deadline-driven environments.
