Property Asset Manager

About the role

A South London local authority is seeking an experienced Property Asset Manager on an interim basis to lead its asset management function. You will shape investment planning, improve data integrity and drive service transformation across a diverse housing portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a multidisciplinary asset management team.
• Develop and deliver the Asset Management Strategy in collaboration with internal stakeholders and residents.
• Own portfolio management, acting as the primary client for asset data on acquisitions and new‑build programmes.
• Oversee asset data systems, ensuring quality, integrity and effective use for decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with Decent Homes standards, including reporting and annual data returns.
• Manage the rolling stock condition survey programme and the housing investment programme.
• Drive service transformation initiatives and oversee NEC contracts.
• Continuously improve asset management processes and performance.
• Lead asset‑related projects and make recommendations on stock changes affecting tenants.
• Allocate team resources to meet service and programme delivery targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in asset management within social housing or a local authority.
• Strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• In‑depth knowledge of asset data management, stock condition surveys and housing investment planning.
• Experience delivering asset management strategies and service transformation programmes.
• Understanding of Decent Homes standards and regulatory reporting.
• Experience managing NEC contracts or similar frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including resident consultation.
