Regional Risk & Compliance Technical Advisor (CWARO)

About the role

The Advisor II, Regional Risk and Compliance provides advisory leadership to strengthen risk management, compliance, safeguarding and accountability across multiple country programs in Central and West Africa. Working remotely, the advisor partners with country teams, regional leadership and global risk colleagues to translate policies into practical tools and actions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on risk management, compliance, safeguarding, fraud prevention and ethical conduct aligned with CRS policies and donor requirements.
• Support regional risk assessments, identify cross‑country trends, and recommend proportionate mitigation and escalation actions.
• Develop and promote regional tools, templates, guidance notes and job aids for consistent implementation.
• Review incident, audit and partner‑risk information to spot recurring issues and advise on corrective actions.
• Mentor country risk and compliance staff and back‑stop technical reviews of proposals, agreements and audit recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Governance, Ethics, Risk Management, Law, International Development, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, compliance, audit, safeguarding or related operational risk functions, preferably in an international NGO.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical advisory support across multiple countries and aligning regional approaches with global policies.

• Risk assessment methodologies and mitigation planning.
• Donor compliance frameworks (USG, EU, UN, institutional donors).
• Safeguarding standards and ethical conduct procedures.
