Tax & Legal Counsel – Energy Sector (2-5 yrs)

About the role

A professional firm is seeking a Tax & Legal Counsel to support an energy sector client in Cameroon. The role combines legal contract work with tax compliance and advisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and project contracts (EPC, O&M, supply, services, joint ventures).
• Handle OHADA corporate matters, including board and shareholder meetings, filings and corporate transactions.
• Manage licences, permits and regulatory compliance in the energy sector.
• Oversee tax compliance (CIT, VAT, withholding taxes, annual returns) and apply sector‑specific tax regimes, exemptions and stability clauses.
• Prepare transfer pricing documentation, manage intra‑group flows and support tax audits and disputes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in business law or tax law.
• 2‑5 years of legal and tax experience, with at least 2 years in a Big Four, law firm or tax advisory firm.
• Strong knowledge of OHADA law and Cameroonian tax law; experience in the energy or extractive sector is a plus.
• Fluent in English (mandatory) and French.
• Rigorous, proactive and business‑oriented mindset.
