National Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Officer – Yaoundé

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer to lead the implementation of its mental health programme across Cameroon. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and the MHPSS Officer, the incumbent will ensure that activities are delivered in line with IOM’s strategic plan and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Implement MHPSS programming according to IOM’s operational plans and ensure compliance with donor and internal policies.
• Provide technical support to mental health teams in assigned regions, overseeing timely execution of activities and proper use of funds.
• Promote partnerships, capacity‑building and networking with local NGOs, associations and civil‑society organisations.
• Supervise psychosocial mobile team leaders and ensure operational oversight of community‑based interventions.
• Participate in needs assessments, research activities and design operational plans to improve access to psychosocial services.
• Deliver training to IOM staff, partners and local authorities on MHPSS topics.
• Adapt standard programme materials to the local context, review translations and provide interpretation in high‑level meetings.
• Assist in preparing proposals, progress reports, cost modifications and public information materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in clinical, counselling, social or educational psychology, anthropology, mental health, humanities or social sciences (minimum two years experience) or a Master’s degree in a related field.
• Proven experience working on MHPSS programmes, preferably with leadership responsibilities.
• Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Experience in community‑based team supervision, monitoring and evaluation.
