Volunteer – Community Development Support (Bamenda)

About the role

The Volunteer will join Relief Gateway’s (REGA) team in Bamenda to support the implementation of community‑based programmes across health, protection, education, livelihood and environmental sectors. Working on‑site, the role offers hands‑on experience in delivering outreach, awareness campaigns and data collection while collaborating with local partners and REGA staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in community outreach and awareness activities related to health, protection, education, livelihood and environmental initiatives.
• Coordinate with community health workers and local partners to organise group sessions, trainings and safe‑space events.
• Support data collection, monitoring and reporting of field activities.
• Provide basic administrative assistance, including documentation of activities and preparation of reports.
• Participate in team meetings, capacity‑building sessions and ensure services are inclusive and culturally sensitive.

Required profile

• Demonstrated interest in community development, public health, social justice or environmental sustainability through volunteer work, internships or community engagement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to engage respectfully with diverse community members, including children, youth and vulnerable groups.
• Organisational skills such as time‑management, record‑keeping and event coordination.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, follow supervisor guidance and adapt to changing field conditions.
• Willingness to be based on‑site in Bamenda and conduct field visits as needed.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
