About the role
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Yaoundé is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Regional Hub for Central and West Africa. Reporting to the Associate Administrative Officer, the role provides essential administrative, human‑resource and financial support to ensure smooth operations of the unit.
Key responsibilities
- Manage HR processes including recruitment, placement, promotion, relocation, performance appraisal, and staff separation, ensuring compliance with UN rules.
- Maintain vacancy announcement files, process personnel actions through the UMOJA system, and monitor staffing tables with statistical reporting.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing budget and financial proposals, monitor expenditures against approved budgets, and generate financial reports from UMOJA.
- Draft routine correspondence, coordinate with service units, and handle general administration tasks such as travel programmes, vendor payments, office space planning, and equipment maintenance.
- Supervise junior general service staff and support data collection, analysis, and presentation for internal reporting.
Required profile
- Experience in administrative support within an international or UN environment.
- Good understanding of UN staff rules, HR procedures, and budgetary processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
