MEAL Assistant (G4) – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

The MEAL Assistant (G4) will support the organization’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) system for its Multi‑Purpose Refugee Response and Relief, Recovery and Resilience projects in Douala. Working closely with program, protection and management teams, the incumbent will help ensure data quality, beneficiary feedback, and lessons learned are captured and used to improve interventions for migrants and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Support regular monitoring of activities and reliable data collection.
• Assist in establishing and documenting accountability mechanisms for beneficiaries and stakeholders.
• Collect, enter, and preliminarily verify beneficiary data, performing basic data cleaning.
• Participate in field monitoring missions, including post‑reintegration visits, and document progress.
• Help prepare interim and final MEAL reports, ensuring inclusion of disaggregated data (age, gender, vulnerability).
• Organise surveys and assessments to measure satisfaction and impact.
• Compile good practices, challenges and lessons learned for documentation.
• Provide administrative support for coordination with local partners and manage complaints/suggestions channels.

Required profile

• Under the supervision of the Chief of Mission, National MEAL Officer and Senior MEAL Associate.
• Experience or academic background in monitoring, evaluation, data collection or related humanitarian fields.
• Ability to travel for field missions and work in a multicultural environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
