Area Operations Manager – Kousseri

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking an experienced Area Operations Manager to lead day‑to‑day operational oversight of its Kousseri office in Cameroon’s Far North region. The role ensures high‑quality programme implementation, coordination with local authorities and humanitarian partners, and effective risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Organise grant opening and closure meetings in coordination with the country office.
• Represent NRC externally at the local level and build professional networks.
• Contribute to assessments for new areas of operation and develop programme strategies.
• Adapt and implement SOPs and procedures to ensure effective assistance delivery.
• Oversee staff work and development plans, conduct performance feedback sessions.
• Maintain NRC’s data collection systems and ensure compliance with reporting standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing humanitarian programmes and operational teams.
• Strong understanding of security, logistics and coordination challenges in the Lake Chad Basin.
• Ability to engage with regional, divisional and sub‑divisional authorities and humanitarian actors.
