Information Technology Specialist – Research IT Support

About the role

The Information Technology Specialist will oversee and support all IT services required for efficient research operations at CRENC. This role ensures secure server systems, REDCap installations, field data collection tools, email platforms, and internet services function smoothly across multiple study sites.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and manage LAN/WAN networks for central and site offices.
• Administer Windows and Linux servers used for project data, backups, and REDCap services.
• Maintain network uptime, VPNs, firewalls, and remote‑access tools (RDP, SSH, TeamViewer).
• Set up and maintain REDCap platforms for clinical and survey data collection.
• Configure and troubleshoot tablets and mobile data collection apps (ODK, Kobo).
• Ensure data syncing between tablets and secure central/cloud servers.
• Train site staff on REDCap, offline capture tools, and secure file transfer methods.
• Administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace email systems, user accounts, permissions, MFA, and phishing protection.
• Support collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, shared drives, and calendars.
