Maintenance Manager – Heavy Mining Machinery

About the role
The Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance of heavy mining machinery across multiple sites, ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and cost‑effective operation. Reporting to the Mine Manager, you will oversee a workshop team, manage spare‑part inventories, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate and schedule maintenance of all heavy mining machineries to prevent breakdowns.
- Conduct routine checks, inspections and testing of repaired equipment to verify performance against manufacturer specifications.
- Perform cleaning, lubrication and other preventive maintenance tasks.
- Manage inventory and procurement of spare parts and supplies to sustain equipment availability.
- Prepare and control the maintenance budget, monitor workshop expenditures and report costings.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records for machinery deployed at various locations.
- Liaise with OEM service engineers for commissioning, warranty support and technical training.
- Train, develop and appraise workshop staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Identify and implement process improvements and report any near‑misses or accidents promptly.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Workshop Manager or similar role in heavy earth‑moving machinery maintenance.
- Proven track record in spare‑part planning, repair management and budget control.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, health‑and‑safety regulations and workshop layout.
