Officer, Policy Fellowships

About the role

The Officer, Policy Fellowships will lead the delivery of the AWF‑Wall Policy Fellowship, a nine‑month training programme that builds a pool of young African professionals skilled in international biodiversity governance. Reporting to the Senior Officer, Youth Leadership, the role ensures alignment with the broader Youth Engagement Strategy and AWF priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, launch and manage the online version of the Policy Fellowship and continue implementation of the flagship cohort.
• Provide technical guidance to implementing partners and consultants.
• Recruit, supervise and coordinate experts, contract institutions, and trainee candidates.
• Develop workplans, curricula and deliver leadership trainings, including field trips and policy conferences.
• Maintain comprehensive records on technical and financial aspects of the programme.
• Establish and nurture partnerships, ensuring effective stakeholder communication.
• Collaborate with the global M&E team to develop and apply MEAL tools.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to the programme and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Team‑player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience designing and implementing learning experiences.
• Background in biodiversity policy‑making environments.
