About the role
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Yaoundé is seeking an Associate Administrative Officer to support the Regional Hub for Central and West Africa. Reporting to the Deputy Regional Director, the incumbent will handle a mix of human‑resource, budgeting, and general administration functions.
Key responsibilities
- Manage unit HR activities including recruitment, placement, promotion, performance appraisal, classification reviews, staff separation and training, ensuring compliance with UN rules.
- Provide staff with information on conditions of service, duties, privileges and entitlements under the Staff Rules and Regulations.
- Assist in developing work programmes and budgets, analyse inputs, allocate resources and monitor expenditures across field presence budgets, trust funds and grants.
- Support financial database implementation, contribute to budgetary guidelines and re‑allocate resources as needed.
- Supervise support staff, oversee procurement, contract management, equipment purchases and maintenance.
- Handle logistics, travel programmes, vendor payments, office space planning and technology needs.
- Participate in relevant UN coordination platforms.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge of UN administrative, budgetary, financial and human‑resource policies and procedures.
- Ability to apply UN rules and regulations in practical situations.
- Analytical and evaluative skills for independent research, issue identification and recommendation formulation.
- Professional competence, attention to detail and efficiency.
