Chemist (Formulator)

About the role

The Chemist (Formulator) will work full‑time on‑site in Douala, designing, developing and optimizing chemical formulations for laboratory reagents, consumables and related products. The role combines experimental work, analytical testing and documentation to ensure products meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory experiments to create new formulations or improve existing ones.
• Perform analytical tests, interpret data and assess stability and performance of formulations.
• Document formulation procedures, experimental results and technical reports in compliance with quality and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with R&D, quality control and procurement teams to evaluate raw materials and support product registration.
• Troubleshoot formulation issues and contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical support to internal teams and customers when required.

Required profile

• University degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy or a related scientific field.
• Strong laboratory skills, including safe chemical handling and use of standard lab equipment.
• Experience with quality control processes and documentation in a regulated environment.
• Proven analytical abilities for data interpretation, problem solving and stability evaluation.
• Background in research and development or formulation work, preferably in pharmaceutical or laboratory reagent industries.
• Attention to detail, good written and verbal communication and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
